I'm Jason Ray.

The spark
A love of cooking — especially on a grill.
Jay Ray's BBQ came together out of a passion and love for cooking, especially if it could be cooked on a grill. A regular with the food channel, Jason's childhood passion for cooking flooded back. His heroes became the BBQ geniuses, and he visited every BBQ place, food stand and truck he could get to.

The craft
Sauces, spices and a growing line of taste-testers.
He began experimenting — making his own sauces and spices, varying cooking methods and temperatures. Before long the volunteer line to taste test began to grow, and those tasters started asking for a slab of ribs, a pound of pulled pork and his tasty BBQ chicken. Side dishes followed.

The kitchen
Demand outgrew home. Jay Ray's BBQ was born.
Pretty soon the demand overcame what he could do at home, so Jason rented a commercial kitchen — and Jay Ray's BBQ was born. The passion continues, and the menu keeps growing.

The win
Champion of the hometown ribs cook-off.
After winning the ribs cook-off in his hometown of Wyandotte, Michigan, Jay Ray's not only got its own legs — it started running. Catering requests for weddings, graduation parties, company lunches, dinners, reunions and corporate parties poured in.
